Check out the highlights from the event “Document Production in International Arbitration: A Roundtable in Search of Best Practices”

On April 15, 2026, in Madrid, the Ciarb Brazil Branch, in partnership with the Ciarb Iberian Chapter, hosted the second working meeting on documentary evidence, titled “Document production in international arbitration: a roundtable in search of best practices.” The meeting was part of the ICCA 2026 side program and brought together leading experts in the field of international arbitration.

Held at the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Spain, the event opened with remarks by Marcos Fontes (RFontes), followed by a welcome address from Luis Martí Mingarro (RAJyL) and opening remarks by Cesar Pereira (Justen).

The program was structured into three main segments. The first roundtable addressed the limits of document production, including topics such as relevance, confidentiality, and privilege, moderated by Lucas Mendes (Laudelino Advogados) and featuring Ricardo Aprigliano (Demarest), Jalal El Ahdab (Fidal), Karina Goldberg (FCDG), Mohammed Abdel Wahab (Zulficar), Nazareth Romero (Ovoli Romero), Philippa Charles (Twenty Essex), and Laura França Pereira (3 Crowns).

To conclude the event, the third roundtable discussion addressed procedural issues, focusing on strategies to avoid so-called “arbitration within arbitration,” led by the same panel of experts.

The event concluded with closing remarks by Cesar Pereira (Justen), followed by a networking session among speakers and participants. The initiative was sponsored by FCDG Advogados and Demarest Advogados, reinforcing the commitment of the participating institutions to the development and improvement of international arbitration practices.
