A UK-qualified and US-based lawyer, Juliya Arbisman has a broad international law practice with a focus on complex jurisdictions (Africa, Middle East and CIS), complex industries (mining and energy), and complex claims (parallel criminal-civil proceedings). Tonico is CIARB BRAZIL’s current Secretary as well as Director of Education.  He is based in São Paulo and specialises in disputes involving construction law in general, corporate and commercial issues, as well as trade finance.  Tonico has a Master’s Degree from the Universidade de São Paulo and an MBA in Finance and Investor’s Relations from FIPECAFI.  His main hobby is dressage and show jumping.  He was a director of the riding school of the Sociedade Hípica Paulista for two consecutive terms.

Management (Florida International University – USA) and a postgraduate degree in
International Construction Law (University of the West of England, Bristol – UK). Member of the
Chartered Institute of Arbitrators – MCIArb (UK) and the Royal Institution of Chartered
Surveyors – MRICS (UK). As a commercial manager and contract administrator manager,
combines extensive knowledge of construction, legislation, negotiation, dispute resolution
techniques (negotiation, mediation and arbitration), procurement and supplier relationships,
derived from over 30 years’ experience, working for constructions conglomerates across 10
countries, in the preparation, analysis, negotiation and administration of engineering and
construction contracts, including preparation of claims. Has knowledge of FIDIC, NEC, JCT,
PPC2000 contract models and bespoke contracts.
